Click Boom movies are made using:

  • F.R.A.P.S 2.9.4 - In-Game Recorder.
  • Adobe Photoshop 7.0 - Artwork Design and Image Editing.
  • Adobe Premiere 6.5 - Movie Editor.
  • Audacity 1.2.6 - Music & Sound FX Editor.
  • WoW Model Viwer - Used for capturing WoW characters for Still Images or Animations.
  • WoW Map Viewer - Used for capturing or exploring WoW instances and map locations.

A lot of people comment on the editing and visual style of the movies, which shocked me initially because the movies are made in a very simple manner.

FRAPS is used to capture in-game WoW footage, beit arena matches or characters - It can also be used to record movement or backgrounds in WoW Map Viewer, or record character animations in WoW Model Viewer.

Once enough footage is gathered, it is categorized and saved for further use - Once I’ve decided on a theme for a movie, Adobe Photoshop is used to edit and design ’stills’ to be used later, ranging from Title Screens, grabbing still pictures of characters from WoW Modelviewer or spicing up any ‘text’ I wish to use during the movie.

All images, recorded footage, recorded animations, chosen sound FX and music are then imported into Adobe Premiere (Movie Editor) which is primarily used for simple editing of the recordings, with the most used feature being the common ‘Blue or Green Screen’ effect.

Recordings of characters are used to create the comedy / parody segments, as well as cutting out the blue/green colours of the artwork allowing for them to overlap.

From there it’s a simple matter of placing the files into position, lining them up and inserting fades, effects and transparencies.

Simple, eh? Feel free to click the images at the top of the screen for a general idea of what I’m on about.

They are mostly images designed for the upcoming ‘Click Boom - Platoon’ movie.
